The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze 2017

 

As I'm sure you can tell from this blog, this is my favorite time of year. I love everything from the falling leaves, lots of coffee, scarves, and pumpkins....I really love pumpkins. Over the years, I've visited the Historic Hudson Valley Blaze many times. Every year is somehow more magical, and this year will go down as one of my favorites as we got to be part of the jack o'lantern lighting team this past weekend. It was an honor to be a part of the lighting team and I am so grateful for the experience.

Halloween 2017!

Halloween is my favorite night of the year (and the doll above was one of my favorite decorations...more pics of her below).

I have so many pictures to show you why I love the night and will begin with the our trip up Main Street in my town. Neighbors who go above and beyond (with decorations and costumes and candy) and the Police who put on an amazing Halloween party made the night memorable for thousands of trick or treaters (and their parents).

Every year we visit the most amazing decorated haunted house. No one puts on a better display and this is our 11th year visiting (and every single year has been more awesome). Thank you Halloween Bill for months of work to put this together. This house is a legend in my town and we are so grateful for this spooky treat every year.

2017 Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off Results!

Ridgefield's 5th Annual Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off 2017

Giant Squash!

In 3rd place in the squash category, Andy Box's giant weighed in at 504 pounds!

Ridgefielder Steve Maydan, entered all 3 categories. His squash came in 2nd weighing in at 675.5 pounds! This is a personal best for Steve in the squash category.

First place squash hails from RI, and weighed in at 1,252.5 pounds, grown by Joe Jutras.

Long Gourds!

Steve Maydan's long gourd measured 80" and came in 2nd place. Any Box took home 1st place with his 90" long gourd.

Giant Pumpkins!

In 8th place, Andy Box brought his 274 pound pumpkin to the scale, traveling all the way from PA.

In 7th place, Ridgefield's own, Steve Maydan, with his 632.5 pound pumpkin.

Roger Spencer came in 6th with his 922.5 pound pumpkins.

In 5th place, Ned Sandercock with his 1,086 pound pumpkin.

Steve Sperry  brought this 1,199 pound pumpkin all the way from RI to Ridgefield and came in 4th place.

In 3rd place, Ernie Gustiucci joined us for the first time this year with his 1,365.5 pound pumpkin coming to Ridgefield from Jackson, PA.

In 2nd place, last year's winner, Ron Wallace, with his 1,505.5 pound pumpkin.

And the winner is.....Gary Vincent from Plainville, CT! His giant weighed in at 1,825.5 pounds!
