Thanksgiving Parade 2013

It was cold and windy today...seriously cold and windy. We were determined to see the parade, bundled up and headed down to the parade route. We looked up the street and saw all the open spaces along the sidewalk; it began to feel like a private parade just for us! As we waited for the parade to begin, we heard the balloons had been grounded because the wind was too strong. While it was a little disappointing, we knew the marching bands, floats clowns and other performers would still make it a lot of fun.

I think the photos speak for themselves, so I will let them show you the parade.

  1. Looks fun but I was freezing to death in my house, let alone out on the street like that. Good for you!

    1. Jen, the first spot we went to was so windy I was debating going home! Thankfully we found a spot in the sun with buildings blocking the wind, so it wasn't too bad.

  2. Good for you for dealing with the cold!! I just couldn't do it this year. The parade is one of my favorites! Last year, I lived downtown so it was lovely to be able to simply walk out and watch the balloons. Bummer about the wind having to ground the balloons. I know there were a lot of sad kids out there...and some adults. ;)

    1. We found a spot that was blocked from the wind and still in the sun, which made it tolerable (I wouldn't have lasted in that wind). I packed thermoses of hot chocolate so that helped too. I think it would be so fun to live near a parade and be able to just walk out your door and see the balloons!
